The MSR Universal Footprint is designed to extend the life of your tent! Made from 68-denier polyester, this material is particularly resistant to abrasive ground (stones, thorns, sharp wood, etc.). This prevents your tent not only from tearing, but also from getting dirty.

What's more, MSR's footprint is coated with polyurethane, making it waterproof (1200 mm water column). So it's just as useful in rocky areas as it is in wet ones. Whether you're in the forest or the mountains, a footprint is lightweight, space-saving and will extend the life of your tent.

Another advantage of the MSR footprint is its versatility. You can use it in many different ways, starting with its traditional use. It unfolds under the tent to prevent dirt, abrasion and moisture, as explained above. Alternatively, you can use it to replace your tent floor. For summer bivouacs, this makes for a more airy tent with just the footprint and flysheet. Last but not least, this protective tarpaulin can also be used as a tarp, picnic mat and much more, depending on your imagination!

Available in different sizes, we strongly recommend that you choose the right one (see attached chart). This will enable you to attach it more easily to the 4 corners of your tent.

The MSR Universal Footprint is :
- A useful footprint on abrasive, damp and/or muddy ground
- Lightweight and compact, it extends the life of your tent.
- More suitable than a simple tarpaulin that you would slide under your tent.


Tip: even with a footprint, it's advisable to clear the ground and remove all rough edges at your base camp. This will not only extend the life of your tent, but also of your footprint.
