The Duplex Zip is an ultralight dyneema tent that can be set up with poles. The doors are zippered for easy opening. An ideal model for light hiking.
Description
The Duplex Zip is a minimalist tent designed for backpacking. It features a single inner chamber and comes with guy ropes for tensioning. Trekking poles are required to set it up. These replace the poles on a conventional tent. Simply place one at each entrance, and the tent will stand upright. Set-up is quick and easy. Sardines are sold separately. Zpacks recommends a minimum of 8.
Quasi-similar to the Zpacks Duplex tent, the only difference is in the openings. On the other version, the doors close with a buckle. Now, for added convenience, the doors have a zip fastening system. What's more, when you open the doors, magnetic points allow you to secure them easily. A practical feature that improves camp life.
As for the rest, the same features apply. In terms of materials, Zpacks uses dyneema, which is more waterproof and resistant than the materials traditionally used for tents (nylon, polyester). By way of comparison, nylon tents undergo an additional treatment (based on PU and/or silicone) to achieve waterproofing of 1500 to 3000 mm. For the Duplex Zip, the water column is 15,000 mm. In other words, you'll stay dry in the event of a downpour.
In terms of dimensions, the Duplex Zip is 228 cm long, long enough for a mattress and equipment at foot level. The width of 114 can accommodate two Regular-size mattresses. Finally, the 122 cm height is a real asset, as you can sit in the tent without touching the roof.
The Zpacks Duplex Zip tent is :
- Recommended ventilation to avoid excess condensation
- Mesh pockets in the inner chamber for your personal belongings
