What Is the French Military Ration ?

A French military ration is essentially a kit containing all the necessary food for 24 hours. It is carried by soldiers on the battlefield and stands out from regular combat rations due to its quick preparation and long shelf life.

Sometimes, the French combat ration proves invaluable during rescue or humanitarian operations. In such cases, it provides basic nutritional support with the advantage of a large number of meals in stock and an "all-in-one" format.

What Does It Contain?

A French military combat ration includes everything needed to last a full day (breakfast, lunch, and even dinner). Typically, this type of meal consists of 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes for lunch and dinner, along with a tea bag for lunch. It’s worth noting that out of the 14 available dishes, 7 are pork-free, and 4 can be eaten without reheating.
