The Lyo Powders Range
The Lyo Powders range from Lyo Food is an excellent choice for those looking to incorporate fruits, plants, and vegetables into their diet. The nutritional quality of the freeze-dried powdered fruits, plants, and vegetables is nearly identical to their freshly harvested counterparts. These powders retain significant amounts of vitamins and minerals, making them highly nutritious.
The Lyo Powders range includes 100% natural fruit, plant, and vegetable powders, which are perfect for culinary use. You can use them to create drinks, smoothies, pastries, creams, gratins, purées, soups, or to flavor your yogurts.
Additionally, the range features "ready-to-drink" beverage mixes that require only water to prepare. There are two options available: an antioxidant red fruit smoothie, and a detox green smoothie.
We Tested the Green Smoothie Detox
This powdered smoothie contains freeze-dried apple, kiwi, pineapple, spinach, nettle, and ginger. The packaging is appealing, and it clearly warns us: the drink will be green! Upon opening the sachet, we find the powder. Out of curiosity, we poured it into a cup for a closer look.
At this stage, it's just powder. You can't easily identify the ingredients, but patience!
Since you can drink directly from the sachet, we transferred the powder back into it—simple enough.
We measured 150 ml of water and poured it into the sachet. To mix thoroughly, you can stir with a spoon (or even a chopstick—it works too!). For optimal mixing, you can reseal the sachet, fold the top securely, and shake it several times (make sure it’s tightly closed to avoid splashes!).
(Pro tip: you can also use a shaker for your Detox Green Smoothie.)
At this point, you can drink straight from the sachet. However, for the test, we poured the preparation into a glass (a medium-sized one, not too big, not too small). It doesn’t make a large amount of drink, but packing so many detoxifying ingredients into one smoothie? We had to taste it.
Visually, you can spot real pieces of apple in the mix. The consistency is not too fluid, nor too thick—somewhere in between.
The first sip reveals that it’s not sweet. There’s a brief moment of disappointment, but then you remember: this is spinach, nettle, ginger... along with kiwi, pineapple, and apple. And guess what? The taste is surprisingly good!
The drink goes down quickly, and as proof of its natural freeze-dried origins, you’ll find small pieces of kiwi or apple seeds at the bottom of the glass. There’s also some residue on the sides, likely apple or kiwi pulp.
The Green Smoothie Detox is both refreshing and satisfying, delivering a natural and healthy mix of flavors. Perfect for anyone looking for a quick, nutrient-packed drink!
