Morakniv, more commonly abbreviated Mora, is a Swedish knife brand founded in 1891. Well-known in survival, bushcraft and outdoor circles, Mora knives are both robust and inexpensive. One of the reasons for their success, but not only...

First of all, Mora is a Swedish town. It's a town with a long tradition, since it's been making sharp knives for over 400 years. In 1891, Mora resident Frost-Erik Erson founded a wooden sled factory and needed knives for the workshop. Within a short space of time, production of these knives took off and was exported outside Sweden. By 1904, Frost's company had 10 employees and was producing 19,000 knives a year. But the Morakniv name was still a long way off.

At the same time, KL Eriksson, a former Frost employee who had been fired by Frost, founded his own knife company. Over the years, both companies expanded, selling internationally. The reputation of Mora knives in Sweden is well known!

Finally, the companies of KJ Eriksson and Frost, which had always been closely linked, finally came together in 1988, when Eriksson's company acquired Frost's company. It wasn't until 2005, however, that this merger led to a name change. The company is now called Mora of Sweden. The Morakniv brand, which had been on many people's minds for decades, only became official in 2005.

Today, Morakniv continues to manufacture its knives on the same premises as KJ Eriksson. This enduring know-how is reflected in the quality of Mora knives. Inexpensive, they are very sturdy and light. They will accompany you on many expeditions, whether for bushcraft, at sea or on a trek.
