The Tarptent story began in 1999 when Henry Shires, not satisfied with what was available on the market, decided to create a tent to his specifications, enabling him to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Finding no one to accompany him, he built it himself. Since then, the brand has continued to innovate to meet the most demanding needs of hikers the world over.
