"Don't put a product on the market that doesn't offer a better experience than what already exists". This is the motto of American company NEMO Equipment, which innovates on a daily basis to improve expedition conditions for outdoor enthusiasts.

Founded in 2002, NEMO Equipment designs and manufactures outdoor equipment including mattresses, folding chairs, pillows, tents and sleeping bags. Its founder, Cam Brensinger, is a bivouac enthusiast. On a restless night, Cam couldn't sleep because of a poorly designed bivouac. Graduating from design school shortly afterwards, he decided to found NEMO Equipment, which stands for New England MOuntain Equipment, to alleviate the problem.

After months of designing prototypes with a handful of designers and engineers, he launched his brand and quickly won awards for the aerial beam tent: named one of Time's 100 best innovations and winner of the ISPO Brand New award in 2005. Since then, NEMO Equipment has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the world's leading designers of outdoor equipment.
