Founded in 1946, Comptoir Ardennais d'Outillage initially manufactured special tools for the armed forces and government agencies. CAO expanded in the 1960s and launched its first range of hiking equipment and accessories. Today, the company has renamed itself CAO Outdoor and also offers products for survival and outdoor activities in general.
