The Outdoor Food and Gear Store Expands in Lorient

Growth at Lyophilise & Co

Located at the heart of Lorient La Base, the company has already moved three times in 13 years to support the growth of its e-commerce site, lyophilise.fr. Since 2020, Lyophilise & Co has been based at 6 bis rue du Sous-Marin Vénus, occupying 550 m² that houses logistics, offices, and a store. However, the space has become too cramped for its growing operations.

To facilitate its development, manager Ariane Pehrson has invested €1.5 million in a new 800 m² logistics unit adjacent to the current building. This investment aims to alleviate congestion in the existing store, streamline logistics, and increase storage capacity. Starting July 3, all orders for French and European customers will be shipped from this new facility.

While online sales account for 90% of the company’s revenue (over €5 million in 2022), foot traffic in the physical store has significantly increased in recent years.

A Store That Captivates Outdoor Enthusiasts

The logistics move presents an excellent opportunity to completely redesign the store under the guidance of Clara and Marion, who welcome skippers, hikers, runners, and other outdoor enthusiasts daily. After a week of renovations from June 30 to July 7, the store is set to reopen on July 10.

The revamped 300 m² space will cater to individuals and professionals seeking portable meals (the store’s specialty, featuring local artisans and major European manufacturers), sports nutrition, and equipment such as sleeping bags, hiking backpacks, mattresses, and water filters.

The new layout will also showcase renowned brands and exclusive products. Additionally, services like in-store order pickup and gear rentals will be available to customers.
