This freeze-dried meal from Estonia's Survival Foodpack can be kept for 8 years, thanks to a unique preservation technique. Used by certain special forces, this meal is packaged in a clever sachet. With its horizontal format, the edges are lower than those of other commercial freeze-dried meals, giving you easier access to the food at the bottom of the bag.

It can be rehydrated in both hot and cold water. Note, however, that using cold water doubles the rehydration time. If you've decided to eat cold but change your mind at the last minute, don't panic. Your cold water meal can be placed over your campfire. The sides of the bag should not come into contact with the flames.
