A turnkey package optimized for performance
What does a typical race day look like?
The pack is based on a typical Marathon des sables race, comprising 6 stages totalling around 250 km, including one long stage over two days. This self-sufficient race requires rigorous management of your equipment and nutrition.
Breakfast: an energetic muesli, rich in fiber and carbohydrates, accompanied by a compote for optimal digestion.
During the race: energy bars and sports drinks to be consumed regularly. Bars should be taken at regular intervals (every 30 minutes or every hour, depending on individual habits). Drinks should be hypotonic in hot weather. The preparation must be highly diluted, with up to 50% more water than recommended for an isotonic drink. It should be consumed in a single mouthful, i.e. around 10 cl, every 10-15 minutes. For better assimilation, vary with a can containing only water.
Race finish and recovery: a recovery drink to be taken within 30 minutes of the finish of your stage. Tabbouleh for the finish line, easy to prepare cold and highly digestible, and beef jerky for muscle recovery, rich in salt to counterbalance losses from perspiration.
Dinner: a hot, hearty meal, as the nights are cool (below 10°C), and a dessert to round off the energy intake.
Note that meals are spiced little or not at all 🌶️ so as not to irritate the stomach and intestines, which are already under severe strain. The only exception to this rule is lunch on rest day 7, when the menu can be varied without compromising the race.
If you are taking part in the MDS 2025, the first days of your arrival at camp, the rest day and the last day of the race are included in this pack. If you are not lining up for this race, these days represent 3 breakfasts, 6 full meals and 2 desserts. You can use them for your training or if you want to go trekking for a weekend or for other races such as the TransPyreneA or RacingThePlanet's 4 Deserts ultra-marathons.

Testimonial from an experienced athlete
"Managing your bag and nutrition is one of the biggest challenges in ultra-trail racing... With Lyophilise & Co, preparation just got easier! The products in this pack are varied, easy to prepare (hot water and that's it), well-balanced and calorie-rich enough to face the challenges of the race every day. I particularly like the chicken/parmesan/basil risotto and the chocolate muesli breakfast!
It almost makes me want to do an MDS again, just to have another week of lyophilise at Lyophilise & Co"
-Sylvaine Cussot, 2nd woman in 2022 on the Marathon des Sables

I just wanted to let you know that I was completely satisfied with the Marathon des Sables pack. It enabled me to complete the race without any particular problems. I even enjoyed every meal. I take my hat off to you, because you can see that the pack has been studied in detail in relation to the race program. Just one small detail: the chocolate cream after the Chicken Tikka Massala is not suitable. The delicious spices in the chicken overpower the taste of the chocolate. I think a crème anglaise or a crème catalane might be more appropriate. In any case, thank you and Bravo, I recommend it. (Translated review)
When you open the box, you'll find 7 transparent blisters marked "day 1", "day 2"..... "day 7", making it much easier to organize your rucksack. each blister contains everything you need for the day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as snacks and drinks for effort and recovery.I'm taking part in the 35th Marathon des sables and I think that eating well is one of the keys to going all the way :) (Translated review)
