Why eat dried meat during outdoor activities?
Beef jerky is naturally high in protein and low in fat. This 25 g portion will provide you with more than 13 g of protein and less than 2 g of fat. With less than 2.2% sugar, Indiana beef jerky lends itself well to tasting as part of a long-term effort, during recovery or even for jerky lovers, during the aperitif. It is also appreciated when sailing at night to stay awake: sweet products can lead to a spike in blood sugar and a big pump, the jerky ticks everything good at night.
The advantages of jerky
Unlike biltong, jerky comes first from a piece of meat (in this case beef) cut into strips. The latter are marinated and then dried. Chewiness are harder on this type of product, which, combined with the ingestion of proteins, reinforces the feeling of satiety.
The beef jerky is naturally salted
The 25 gram portion is salted to improve preservation (count about 1 g of Dead Sea salt). It is recommended to moderate salt intake if you are used to consuming it in large quantities. However, during a sports activity, the presence of salt in this product encourages water intake, which can be advantageous for those who tend to neglect their hydration and need to compensate for the loss of salt due to sweating.
