What do Kilian Jornet, Mo Farah, Eliud Kipchoge and Jim Walmsley have in common? Apart from the fact that all 3 are outstanding athletes, they are also Maurten partners. The Swedish brand designs sports nutrition based on hydrogel technology. The aim is to provide more carbohydrates than a conventional drink, without the digestion step.
To achieve this, the recipe contains a high concentration of maltodextrin and fructose. Mixed with water, the drink is immediately transformed into a hydrogel in the acidity of the stomach. The drink is then rapidly transported to the intestine, where water, salt and carbohydrates are absorbed in large quantities. The body can therefore assimilate up to 90g of carbohydrates per hour, compared with 60g for a conventional drink.
As you can see, this drink is rich in carbohydrates. An 80g sachet contains 79g!
Maurten Drink Mix 320 is therefore ideal for long efforts, such as trail running, cycling or swimming. It's also a great way to boost your energy when you're out hiking and feeling tired.
