The Euroschirm Swing Handsfree umbrella is much more than just an umbrella. It has been specially designed for hiking.
It has two essential features: excellent wind resistance and a fastening system to keep your hands free.
As far as wind resistance is concerned, the mast and ribs (also known as branches) are made of fiberglass. This material offers two advantages. On the one hand, it's highly resistant. On the other, it's flexible. In other words, in windy conditions, the Euroschirm Swing umbrella canopy is unlikely to turn over. And if it does, unlike other materials such as steel, the fiberglass will easily return to its original shape.
The Euroschirm Swing hiking umbrella has been tested in the wind tunnel of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, one of Germany's most prestigious research centers. It has withstood winds of force 12 on the Beaufort scale (winds in excess of 118 km/h) without breaking.

The second special feature of this hiking umbrella is its hands-free attachment system. Two straps are supplied with the Euroschirm Swing Handsfree. The first attaches to the shoulder strap and the second to the hip belt.
You can choose to position these attachments according to the direction of the rain: left, right or diagonally (one strap on the left shoulder strap and the other on the right hip belt, or vice versa).
So even after a whole day of rain, you'll stay dry. A much-appreciated comfort, especially when you have no way of drying your clothes overnight.

Last but not least, the Euroschirm hands-free umbrella handle folds away. With a maximum size of 110 cm, you can fold it down to 76 cm. Small loops allow you to attach it to your backpack. Perfect for quick access.
